Be amazed by the sound of nearly 250,000 liters of water per second erupting from a natural gorge and pouring down 11m to the Waikato River below. You will hear the Huka Falls well before you see them. The spectacular waterfall takes the number 1 spot for the most-visited natural attraction in New Zealand. You can experience this natural attraction up close by taking a river cruise or jet boat trip right up to the falls until you feel the spray on your face. There are walking and biking trails along both sides of the falls. Take a picnic and spend half a day exploring the area and the falls.

More Information

Huka Falls is created by the Waikato River, normally 100m wide, being forced to just 15m wide as it passes through a hard volcanic canyon. As a result the pressure increases immensely, causing the water to burst out with great force as the gorge ends.

Huka Falls is just a five minute drive from Taupo and just down the road from Huka Falls Spa.
