Taupō comes alive every Labour Weekend with Graffiato, New Zealand’s premier street art festival. With the stunning backdrop of Great Lake Taupō and the surrounding mountains, artists transform the town centre into a vibrant outdoor gallery. Watch as bold, colourful murals are created in real time, adding to the more than 80 incredible public artworks already on display.

The festival’s kaupapa (principles) celebrate creative freedom, community, and connection. Artists are encouraged to paint what inspires them, resulting in a collection that is diverse, uplifting, and truly unique. Thanks to the support of local businesses and building owners, Taupō now boasts one of the most exciting and concentrated showcases of street art in the country.
