Day Night Thriller MTB event returns to Taupo after twelve year hiatus!

Event Promotions are excited to announce that the BFA Taupo Day Night Thriller Mountain Bike event will return to Taupo on 26th September 2026.
Many thanks to Patuiwi Reserve Trust for allowing access to their forest, BFA Limited for their sponsorship, Bike Taupo for the building of a new smooth flowing trail through the Patuiwi Forest and the Taupo District Council for the use of Spa Park, the event hub.

The Day Night Thriller was undeniably the best mountain bike event in NZ, hosting more than 3,000 riders annually and it will return in 2026. The Patuiwi Forest is again mature, so let’s go! The ride will be outstanding, catering for all ability levels. Individuals and relay teams compete on a 6km, 20-to-30-minute circuit for 3 hours (relay teams of two-three or solo), 6 hours (relay teams of two-five or solo) or 12 hours (relay teams of two-five or solo). Realy teams or solos ride as many laps as they can within the event timeframe. Tents, campervans, caravans and more pop up within your 10m x 5m team site where riders wind their way through each lap creating an electric atmosphere and unbelievable experience.
