NEW YEARS EVE BIG BANG
The Big Bang is back!
Taupō’s annual New Year’s Eve Big Bang Fireworks display returns on Wednesday 31 December.
Alongside the main midnight show, there will also be a Mini Bang at 9.30pm an earlier display that’s perfect for families and younger children.
The fireworks will be safely launched by a professional pyrotechnics team from a barge on the lake, creating plenty of safe and accessible viewing spots along the lakefront.
To ensure everyone’s safety, Roberts Street will be closed from 7am on Wednesday 31 December through to 2am on Thursday 1 January 2026. This allows the community to enjoy Tapuaeharuru Reserve freely and safely, while nearby businesses remain open as usual.
Bring your whānau, tamariki and good vibes for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve.
Please note: this event is vape-free and smoke-free, dogs should stay at home, and the CBD is an alcohol-free zone.
